THE STANDARD MANDOLIN

The design of my “Standard” mandolin is best described by the Japanese word Shibui.

This mandolin has a simple elegance which depends only on its form and its materials rather than any unnecessary embellishment: everything you see is pure mandolin.

I concentrate on the features that influence the sound and playability, stripping back any unnecessary adornments, resulting in a beautifully sounding and highly playable handmade mandolin at a reasonable cost to the player.

Features include:

High quality, solid tonewoods used throughout

Carbon-fibre reinforced neck

30mm width @ nut (Tusq) 360mm scale length

Compound radius fretboard with side markers and wide gold evo frets

Mini Gotoh enclosed tuners

Reworked Gibson style tailpiece

Solid bridge with removable saddle (can be shimmed to raise action)

Open-pore satin finish, hand buffed with microcrystalline wax

Set-up for D'Addario J73 strings (10, 14, 24, 38)
